SpeedE: Vehicle concept and research platform

Our vehicle concept SpeedE turns e-mobility into e-motion.

It is designed to take full advantage of an electric drivetrain and create a completely new and inspiring driving experience.

Exciting concept features are:

  • powerful torque vectoring drive at the rear axle
  • lateral control (vehicle guidance) via side sticks (joysticks)
  • wheel individual steer-by-wire system with wheel steering angles of up to 90 degree for innovative driving dynamics functionalities and an excellent maneuverability (allowing rotations around the inner back wheel)
  • central driver seat for an improved all-round visibility and spacious feeling in the cockpit
  • new entry concept including gullwing doors for an entry in an upright position
  • futuristic exterior design with an unconventional shape and innovative body structures

We developed this vehicle in close cooperation with our research partner ika. The development included all necessary process steps, from specifying the requirements for the overall concept, over component and occupant package, design-technic-convergence as well as development of functions and components right through to virtual safeguarding. In the end, SpeedE was built-up and validated as a prototype including user studies.

SpeedE is successfully used as a research platform to develop and evaluate new technologies, components and methods.
