Evaluating driver assistance sensors and functions with our spraytruck

Thanks to our extensive method knowledge and infrastructure, we are experts in evaluating and validating automated driving functions as well as driver assistance systems and their components like environmental sensors.

Our testing catalogue with standardized testing methods for customized sensors and functions contains standard and special traffic scenarios, which automated driving or driver assistance functions need to master or which typically are difficult for sensors. We can also test according to Euro NCAP standards.

Further, we develop testing scenarios for individual questions. Our tools include measurement technology and sensor targets for validation plus high-precision reference systems for adjustment. On our test track we also validate environmental models.

Our spray truck

Our unique spraytruck helps us to create reproducible environmental conditions for system tests on our test routes in public traffic. Thanks to a special permit, we can conduct tests on highways like the A44 round Aachen.

The 6,000 l water tanks enable us to create clouds of water spray in order to reproducibly test e.g. environmental sensors like radar and lidar under extreme conditions according to our test catalogue definitions.

The test catalogue contains a variety of driving and environment scenarios, which were derived from our ACC development.
